Beginning our Projects

We have now finished up the history portion of our first artist in each grade and have begun working on projects. As we begin these new projects we have been brushing up on relevant vocabulary from last year and working on learning more. Here are some terms all scholars should be familiar with:

1. Values: the relative light and dark areas within an image.

2. Gradient: the soft gradual transition between values.

3. Parallel: lines that go in the same direction without touching.

4. Symmetrical: shapes or lines that are mirror images of one another.

Our beginning sketches should be made with light, gentle lines because we expect that our first attempts will not be perfect. We expect to need our erasers. We expect to persevere with courage. We are all capable of great work if we give ourselves time to improve.
